Parenting as a Single Mom or Dad
Parenting alongside a fully-involved spouse is challenging enough. How much more challenging is parenting as a single mom or dad? Much in every way. The authors below are open, honest, and courageous companions in the midst these trials.
*The Unseen Companion by Michelle Lynn Senters (1): The author is the founder and director of a ministry that cares for single moms and equips churches to do the same. Her book is an extended reflection on how to (re)build a God-honoring life as a single parent. In the process, she gently calls readers to pray and read the Bible, which are the most important habits for growing with God. The subtitle of the book is “God with the Single Mother,” but single dads will benefit from this book, as will anyone who is interested in learning more about how to minister to single parents more wisely.
When Happily Ever After Shatters by Sue Birdseye (1): The author begins by telling the heart-wrenching story of her own “ambush by adultery,” which led to her divorce and becoming a single parent. For those struggling with one or both of those realities, Birdseye offers wise, realistic, hope-filled advise. “Look to God” is her central message.
