The Leadership Training Program: Equipping Leaders Who Start, Strengthen, and Multiply Churches
Goal
The goal of the Leadership Training Program is to equip men and women, singles and couples, to make disciples, lead others, and take part in starting, strengthening, and multiplying churches. This is not mainly a classroom program. It is a shared environment where leaders are formed through Scripture, discussion, practice, and real-life ministry.
How God Forms Leaders
When God raises up leaders, the process is both supernatural and ordinary. It is supernatural because God calls people through Christ and works in them by the Holy Spirit. It is ordinary because God uses everyday people as they follow Jesus and take part in his mission.
God forms leaders through relationship with Jesus and through active participation in helping others follow him.
What This Program Is (and Is Not)
This program is not a traditional academic course, and it does not replace the role of the local church in recognizing and appointing elders.
Instead, it develops leaders who can:
make disciples
teach Scripture
lead others in obedience
form and strengthen communities
help develop new leaders
Leadership here means helping others follow Jesus, grow in obedience, and become disciple-makers themselves. This training fits within the broader Path of Church Leaders.
What We Do Together
This program is built around three shared practices.
1. We Plan and Solve Ministry Problems Together
We bring real situations from our lives and ministries. Together, we ask questions, seek wisdom, and make clear plans. The goal is not discussion alone, but concrete next steps in making disciples and strengthening communities.
2. We Study the Core Documents of The Gathering Network
We work through the key documents that define our vision, mission, strategy, message, doctrine, and church life. These help us think clearly and act consistently as we take part in starting, strengthening, and multiplying churches.
3. We Study the Word of God Together
We open the Scriptures to understand what God says, align our thinking with his purposes, and respond in obedience. God forms leaders through his Word as they follow Jesus and help others do the same.
These three practices work together. We study the Word, learn the framework, and apply both to real ministry situations.
What to Expect
This program does not guarantee that you will start or lead a church. However:
All participants grow in making disciples
Many begin leading others and strengthening communities
Some help develop leaders and form new churches
The aim is steady, faithful, multiplying ministry over time.
Practice While Learning
This program requires real ministry during the training.
Participants are expected to:
disciple others
practice teaching and leading
take steps to strengthen or begin a community
The goal is not only to learn, but to lead while learning.
Final Word
This program forms leaders who do not only gain knowledge, but who live out the mission of Jesus and help others do the same.
We trust God to work in and through each participant, and we aim to equip leaders for a lifetime of faithful, multiplying ministry.
This program helps men progress through a pathway we call “The Path of Church Leaders.”
